If your business operates in a deregulated market, you have the option to procure energy from multiple sources.
Here's how it works:
Energy service is made up of three separate parts.
GENERATION: the production of energy by power plants
TRANSMISSION: the movement of energy from the point of origin to a distribution system
DISTRIBUTION: the delivery of energy to customers by utility companies
This altogether is known as the grid.
Prior to energy deregulation, regional utility monopolies owned and operated all three parts of energy service. In response to growing calls for competition and spurred by the success of deregulation in the airline and telecommunications industries, Congress passed laws to allow states to pursue energy deregulation, and nearly half of all states have done so.
Customers in deregulated areas can choose who supplies their energy from the grid.
This is different from the distribution and transmission of energy. Power plants generate energy and sell it to utilities as well as retail energy providers in deregulated markets. The energy is then resold to you, the end customer. Transmission and distribution are still handled by your utility, regardless of what company supplies the energy. These charges are separate from the supply portion of your bill.
Deregulation allows you to choose from a variety of retail energy providers, much like you'd shop around among multiple internet providers. Competing retail energy providers offer a range of plans and options for consumers, such as terms that range from one month to as long as five years or energy mixes of up to 100% renewables. When several providers compete for your business, it can mean significant savings for you.
How will switching providers impact your business?
Power Shop is proud to offer fixed energy rates among the very lowest in the industry.
Our rates are substantially lower than incumbent utility companies and often even lower than rates from the exact same suppliers on your state-sponsored PUC's energy choice site.
And our process is completely hassle free.
You will not have any service interruptions. Your bill will continue to arrive as it normally does. If your power goes out in a bad storm, your utility will still be the one to call. The only change will be under the supply portion of your bill, which will reflect the new provider you selected and new rate you approved.
When switching energy providers is this easy, why continue to spend another day and another dollar on the same provider? We would love to hear about your energy needs.
